How To Put Apps On Home Screen S9
Your Samsung Samsung Galaxy S III (S3) is highly configurable. You can add apps and widgets to any Home screen.
Your Galaxy S3 has up to seven separate Home screens. That means you can customize each one with various widgets that are available right out of the box as well as those that you can download from the Google Play store.
In addition to adding widgets – you can add apps to the various Home screens to make them more accessible in the future. Make sure you take a look at the tutorial on adding folders, so you can further customize your Home screens.
Adding apps to any Home screen
When you first turn on your Galaxy S3, chances are that you already have two widgets installed; one is the Clock/Weather widget and the next is the Flipboard widget on the first Home screen to the left.
Let's say that you want quick access to one of your many apps that you have downloaded onto your phone. When apps are on a Home screen, they are easier to locate than if they are simply in the App drawer, which can easily fill up with dozens of apps.
- Find a Home screen with room for the app for which you want to create a shortcut
- Touch and hold the screen
- Choose Add to Home screen
- Choose Apps
- Select the app you want to add to the Home screen
In this example, I chose the Maps icon and dragged it onto the Home screen. Now, it serves as a shortcut. Remember, you can then touch and drag your apps to wherever you want on the page or to another Home screen.
Adding widgets to your Home screen
You can follow the exact directions as above, but after you select Choose apps, touch at the top of the screen where it says Widgets.
Alternatively:
- Touch the App drawer icon – usually in the lower right hand corner
- Touch Widgets at the top of the screen
- Touch and hold a widget
- Drag the widget to the particular spot on a Home screen
- Drag right or left to put it on a different Home screen
- Release to set it in place
In this example, I wanted to put the Google search box on my Home screen with my app folders. I dragged it to the screen, placed it in the middle of the screen and released.
Deleting widgets
When you first get your Galaxy S3, depending on country and carrier, you will most likely have some widgets already installed that you might want do get rid of to make room for other – more useful – widgets.
Navigate to the Home screen with the widget you would like to remove
- Touch and hold the widget
- Drag it down towards the bottom of the screen
- Drag it to the Trash can icon which says Delete
In this example, I dragged the YP search widget to the trash can and deleted it.
Adding widgets and apps to your Home screens really helps customize your Galaxy S3 to your needs and allows you to make the phone truly "your own" and unique.
